In recent times, the Kathmandu Valley has witnessed a disturbing rise in instances of murders stemming from seemingly petty disputes. The grim incident that unfolded in Gairigaun, Tinkune, where four lives were ruthlessly taken, has once again sounded the alarm on the urgent need for proactive measures to curb this escalating violence.

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Leaking information obtained until the completion of a criminal investigation is considered unprofessional conduct of the investigating officer. However, in the investigation of the recent big and well-known crime incidents, the investigation officers of Nepal Police have leaked information one after another. Some facts and information obtained during the police investigation including leaders' speeches, especially in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam case and the gold smuggling case, are highlighted through social media. DHANGADHI, Jan 9: It has been revealed that the incident of rape of a 77-year-old woman in Ghodaghodi Municipality-4 of Kailali was settled through a financial transaction. The rape was kept a secret with an understanding of providing Rs 300,000 to the victim in the presence of the people’s representatives and the villagers.

SANKHUWASABHA, Sept 11: A man from Madi-1 Umling Khola village has been arrested on the charge of involvement in the massacre of Tej Bahadur Karki’s family. According to DSP Laldhwaj Subedi, chief of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, the arrested person is a relative of the Karki family.

GORKHA, August 9: Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl of Palungtar Municipality-4 in Gorkha. According to police, the young girl had been seriously ill after being repeatedly abused by her father and uncle.

KATHMANDU, August 7: Cases related to rape and domestic violence have been found to be on the rise across the country. According to the statistics released by Nepal Police, as many as 2,534 cases were filed against rape in 2020, while 2,144 complaints were registered in 2019. So far, 390 cases of rape has been registered in the current fiscal year.

ROLPA, August 4: A study has shown that the cases of child marriage in Rolpa are very high. Out of 354 new mothers at Rolpa Hospital last year, 53 were below the age of 20. Of them, eight had to undergo surgeries to deliver their babies. Likewise, among the 167 women who underwent safe deliveries, 17 were below the age of 20.
