BIRGUNJ, March 12: The police have arrested a groom who annulled his marriage after not receiving the expected golden chain in dowry, following a complaint filed by the bride on Monday night.  The groom, Umesh Shah, employed as a computer operator in the health section of Birgunj Metropolitan City was arrested at 2 AM on Tuesday.

PARSA, Feb 21: The curfew imposed in the Birgunj area for an indefinite period due to security concerns has been relaxed to some extent.

A case of customs evasion was uncovered involving a tanker carrying petrol from the Indian Oil Corporation's (IOC) Barauni refinery to the Nepal Oil Corporation's (NOC) Amlekhganj depot.

DRI raids several Birgunj-based firms

BIRGUNJ, Sept 1: Three patients who were undergoing treatment at different hospitals here in Birgunj died due to COVID-19 infection.

BIRGUNJ, Aug 11: As many as 70 more individuals tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the course of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.

BIRGUNJ, Aug 9 : The rapidly-spreading novel coronavirus has not only cost the lives of the infected people in Birgunj but the chaotic situation has fallen hard on other patients as well. We now know that like the rest of the country, Birgunj was woefully ill-prepared to deal with the pandemic. Families of the victims have decried massive delays in medical response, hassles of PCR tests and the lack of proper counseling. A case in point, Chalitra Mahato, 64, died of coronavirus-like symptoms at the gate of a hospital on Thursday. Though his report a day before had come negative for the virus, the family has questioned the authenticity of the report.
