Revenue collection from Birgunj dry port down by Rs 200 million

BIRGUNJ, Nov 17: The Sirsiya Dry Port Customs Office in Birgunj has collected Rs 16.55 billion in revenue in the first four months (mid-July to mid-November) of the current fiscal year 2024/2025. During the four months, the office collected 27.57 percent revenue of the total annual target.

BIRGUNJ, Nov 17: The Sirsiya Dry Port Customs Office in Birgunj has collected Rs 16.55 billion in revenue in the first four months (mid-July to mid-November) of the current fiscal year 2024/2025. During the four months, the office collected 27.57 percent revenue of the total annual target.


The office had collected Rs 16.75 billion in revenue in the four months of the previous fiscal year. Compared to the four months of last fiscal year, the revenue collection of the office has decreased by Rs 204 million during the same period of the current fiscal year.

Dhan Bahadur Baruwal, chief customs officer of the dry port customs office, said that there has been a decrease in revenue collection due to the decrease in the import of goods from foreign countries. He said that the import of goods has decreased in recent months due to the numerous public holidays during the festive period.


Baruwal said that the office has collected Rs 3.75 billion in mid-July to mid-August of the current fiscal year, followed by Rs 4.64 billion in mid-August to mid-September, Rs 4.36 billion in mid-September to mid-October and Rs 3.79 billion in mid-October to mid-November.
