As Wharton School professor Peter Cappelli recounts, “90% of positions (and virtually all those in the top ranks) were filled from within—and 96% of large companies dedicated an entire department to planning for workforce needs.” When companies need talent, he argues, the prestige of HR goes up; when labor markets go slack, HR returns to benefits administration.

DADELDHURA, Oct 13: One of the biggest hospitals in the far west, Dadeldhura Hospital in Dadeldhura is crippling in the lack of human resources. The hospital has halted all major services including postmortem of dead bodies.

ROLPA, June 27: The Rolpa District Hospital, which is supposed to provide medical care to 200,000 residents of the district, has only 15 beds. District residents are aware of this shortcoming and have been demanding for improving the quality of service it provides by expanding its capacity and adding human resources for a long time now.

Making the system work

Since the start of formal education practice in Nepal, the government has tried various systems for ensuring quality education and producing excellent human resources. During the 1970s, the government of the day came up with semester system in the college level education but this system couldn’t last long and was soon replaced with annual system in 1980. After 34 years, in 2014, Tribhuvan University re-introduced the semester system with the great objective.

KAVRE, April 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government would produce globally competitive human resources. PM Oli said it at a programme organized to inaugurate the new building of a local Sanjivani Model Secondary School in the district on Wednesday.
