ACHHAM, Dec 12: A teenage girl has become the victim of rape in Achham even as the 16-day campaign against violence against women was in progress. 

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on the charge of sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl. The arrestee is Milan Bhul of Bhandarigaun, Sanfebagar municipality-4. He is in police custody at the District Police Office. 

Bhul has been arrested on the basis of the complaint the girl lodged with the police, Deputy Superintendent of Achham Police, Janak Bahadur Shahi, said. 

It is stated that Bhul raped a girl on December 9. The girl informed about the incident to the Area Police Office, Sanfebagar immediately after the incident leading to Bhul’s arrest. He was arrested from his house. An investigation is underway into the incident, police stated. 

Likewise, three people were arrested from Gaurigunj of Jhapa for demanding ransom after abducting a seven-year-old child.

The arrestees are Badri Yadav of Gaurigunj-6, Shree Prasad Malha of Gaurigunj-4 and his wife Anju Mukhiya, shared Police Inspector at Gaurigunj Area Police Office, Tekendra Poudel. 

Police nabbed them from a hotel at Damak where the abducted Maifuz Alam, a son of Mohamed Sadam, of Kisanpura of Supaul district of Bihar, India, was kept. 

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 million from the family of the child. 

A team of Nepal Police deputed from Gaurigunj Area Police Office had rescued Alam from the hotel and handed him over to the family members. 

The arrestees are being detained at Damak-based area police office for investigation. RSS
