Sanjay Lama, 28, of Bharatpur was shot by a gang of assailants, while he was having meal with his friends at a hotel at Ghumaune along the road section. [break]
The assailants had opened fire on one of Lama’s friends. He sustained a bullet injury after he came in the way.
He was then rushed to nearby Chitwan Medical College. He was pronounced dead as soon as he was brought to the hospital.
Lama along with his friends was on his way to Kathmandu.
Police suspect personal enmity to be the reason behind the shooting blamed on one Shiva Poudel, a cadre of Tarun Dal, the youth wing of Nepali Congress.
Irate youths set on fire a motorcycle (Na 17 Pa 2847) on which the assailants fled the scene.
To protest the killing, the youths have descended on the road with iron rods and obstructed vehicular movement along the highway.
