KATHMANDU, September 26: Gen-Z members of the CPN (Maoist Center) have demanded 25 percent representation for their age group across all levels of the party’s committees.
Youth party members, affiliated with the Maoist Center, submitted a memorandum to party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, calling for a minimum 25% quota in all party structures.
The Politics of Quotas
They also called for the restructuring of all party committees to mandatorily include Gen-Z representation in at least one-quarter of the positions.
In addition, they strongly urged the formation of Gen-Z coordination committees or departments within all party organizations and wings. Alongside this, they emphasized the need to launch programs focused on leadership development, training, and membership drives to realign the party with present-day needs and expectations.
The Gen-Z activists clarified that their demands should not be viewed merely as symbolic inclusion, but rather as part of a broader initiative to reconstruct and modernize the party.
They stated that their proposal is based on key factors such as demographic balance, political succession, organizational strengthening, and the need for digital innovation and creativity.
They further stressed that the upcoming General Convention or Special Convention should amend the party’s statute to formally enshrine the reservation provision.
