KATHMANDU, March 21: While the heat is yet to settle on the retirement of eight brigadier-generals of the Nepal Army, another general of the same rank too has retired, with the government not extending his service tenure, Kantipur daily reported.
Brig-Gen Lok Bahadur Thapa of Engineering Directorate retired on March 16, the day his eight other colleagues retired too.
The Army Headquarters had written to the Ministry of Defense Affairs to extend the tenure of Thapa besides his eight colleagues. However, the Maoist-led defense ministry has refused to accede to the request.
Political parties, including the ruling as well those in the opposition, have asked the government to reconsider its decision.
