YAN strike throws life out of gear

CHITWAN, Sept 8: Normal life came to a complete halt in Chitwan on Thursday due to the strike called by Youth Association Nepal (YAN), youth wing of the CPN (UML).



YAN had called the strike protesting the attack on Kamal Raj Pathak, a YAN central committee member and Narayani in-charge of UML, on Wednesday. [break]



Pathak was attacked by motorbike-borne assailants at Tikauli jungle of Ratnapur while on his way to office.



He has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.



Transport movement came to a complete standstill in Chitwan due to the strike. YAN has demanded immediate action against involved in the incident and security to the general public.



They have also warned the authorities of more stringent protests if their demands are not met.



The District Police Office, Chitwan, said investigation into the incident is on.



Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) has condemned the attack on Pathak. The party has demanded immediate action against the assailants and medical expenses for Pathak.
