Speaking at the Reporter´s Club in the capital, Yadav said the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls were not possible if the political situation remains the same. [break]“As a democratic party we would register for the polls but the major political parties and present government has been making futile attempts to conduct the election.”
He also said that the parties would not be able to promulgate the new constitution even if the CA polls are held. The new constitution cannot be written if the major parties ignore the voices of the agitating political parties.
He also rubbished UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s statement that India was for delineation of states on the basis of language. He said, “This is a fake claim. It has been yet again been proved that the Maoist chairman is against identity-based federalism in Nepal,” he added.
Speaking at the same event, CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung said his party would not register for fresh CA polls unless the 25-point agreement on constitutional amendments was scrapped.
He also warned of protest if the government tries to hold election forcefully. “Only an all-party government will be able to hold the election,” he said.
