NCP secretariat meeting decides to register party for by-polls

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: A secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has decided to register the party at the Election Commission for the upcoming by-election.


Emerging from the meeting, party spokesperson Naraynkaji Shrestha told reporters that the meeting entrusted General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to make necessary preparations to register the party at the EC.

Following the merger between the then CPN UML and CPN Maoist (Centre) and launching of the Nepal Communist Party last year, the party has not been registered at the EC yet. Therefore, the ruling party decided to register the party keeping in mind the by-election.


Earlier, the election body had asked all political parties to be registered at the EC by September 17 if they wish to contest the by-election.


By-election will be held to elect the representatives for vacant posts in various local levels, provincial assembly and federal parliament.
