KATHMANDU, Aug 27: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of Nepal Army personnel from Kailali and some other "riot-hit" districts.
Advocates Roshan Kumar Jha and Yam Kumar Yonjan filed the petition claiming mobilization of Nepal Army personnel is against the constitution. They have argued that the army can be mobilized only through the decision of the National Security Council.
Writ petition filed against Rabi Lamichhane
The government has been deploying Nepal Army for security after a mob killed seven security personnel and a child in Tikapur of Kailali.
Meanwhile, a single bench of Justice Jagadish Sharma Paudel has issued show-cause notice to the government and four Madhes-based parties over the annoucement by Madhesi parties' alliance of Rs 5 million compensation to the families of those who might get killed in the ongoing protests.
Advocates Amrit Kharel and Biswa Prakash Paudel had filed the writ petition.
