KATHMANDU, Feb 13: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) against the hike in service charges at Bir Hospital, on Wednesday.

Shova Chandra Mishra and advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh filed the petition at the apex court today, seeking scrapping of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS)´s decision to increase charges.for beds, cabin beds, pathological and radiological services. [break]

The NAMS on January 26 had taken the decision to be effective from February 12. The petitioners have argued that the decision is in contravention to the health services act, with adverse ramifications for the general public.
