Advocate Om Prakash Aryal filed the petition on Wednesday stating that the appointment would undermine constitutional provisions, values and aspirations of people’s movement.[break]
The petitioner has sought the apex court intervention as former chief secretary Karki had been earlier declared unfit for government jobs in future and alleged involvement in corruption. "Going through his (Karki) past records, chances are high his appointment as chief will grant amnesty to corrupt persons while penalize honest ones," the petition reads.
Writ against appointment of EC commissioners
Pravin Kumar Labha filed writ petition at Suprme Court on Wednesday against the proposed appointment of Neelkantha Uprety, Dolakh Bahadur Gurung and Ayodh Prasad Yadav as commissioners of the Election Commission (EC).
Uprety and Gurung were retired as acting chief commissioner while Yadav was retired as commissioner of the EC.
