Petitioners Jyoti Baniya, Ram Chandra Simkhada and others have asked the apex court order the hospital to resume all services within 24 hours.

“The Essential Services Act bans obstructions and protests in 16 essential services, including hospitals, thus, no one has the right to suspend hospital services,” reads the writ petition.

The petitioners have also demanded that the court direct the government to take actions against all involved in suspending hospital services.

All vital services of the hospital have remained suspended for the past several days as doctors affiliated to different political parties are vying to get appointed as the hospital´s executive director, causing cancer patients and their relatives to suffer.
