In terms of visitors, we didn´t cross 50,000 mark as per our target but the turnout was well above the previous year figure. As we have been telling, the major objective of this campaign is to raise awareness and I think we have been successful on that front. Till last year, people used to get confused with InfoTech and SofTech but we feel visitors have now come to understand the difference.[break]
How was the response from government officials and political leaders?
We are encouraged by the visit of Information and Communications Minister Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta and former minister Krishna Prasad Mahara. Along with them some more lawmakers have showed interest in the event. But we failed to get any commitment for the development of ICT sector, something that we have been looking forward to.
What do you think remain the great success among different events of CAN SofTech?
The workshop on e-NGO was a huge success. This was the kind of event we were planning since long and this event helped us reach the grassroots level. Stakeholders of 58 NGOs participated in the event with keen interest. With the help from the workshop, participants can now make the best use of IT and can improve efficiency of the organisation.
What is the next program that CAN will organize?
CAN SofTech and InfoTech are our annual events. Besides these, we are working to come up with more programs. At present, we are planning to organize a program on IT education. The event will lobby for the development of IT education. We are planning to hold workshop and also give away scholarships for IT education through this event.
