Women's football begins today

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Nepal Army is set to organize the Chief of Army Staff Fourth International Women's Football Tournament from November 4 to 8 in Lalitpur. Issuing a press statement on Thursday, Army informed the tournament will feature 10 teams from Nepal and India.

All the matches of the tournament will be played at the Army Physical Training and Sports Center, Lagankhel, Lalitpur the statement said. The tournament that will be held in knockout format and will see eight Nepali teams-Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force, Eastern Region, Central Region, Western Region, Mid-Western Region and Far-Western Region. Similarly two Indian teams from Bihar and Sikkim will join Nepali opponents. 

The winner of the competition will bag a purse of Rs 300,000 along with winner's trophy while the runner-up will be handed Rs 150,000. Likewise, the two semifinalists will be given Rs 50,000 each. Best players in four different positions - goalkeeping, defense, midfield and forward will be handed Rs 10,000 each. 

Similarly, best coach of the tournament will be given Rs 10,000 while the best player of the tournament will be awarded with a scooter.  

The organizer will also provide accommodation and food for all the participating teams besides daily allowances for players belonging to regional teams.
