Radha Mehata, 29, of Chhitaha was found hanging few days ago. Based on the condition of the body, police suspected that Radha had not killed self but was murdered. They arrested her husband Santosh Kumar and father-in-law Shivaram on the suspicion of their involvement in the killing of Radha.[break]
Shyam Sundar Mehata, uncle of the victim, has filed a first information report (FIR) at the Area Police Office, Duhabi, stating that she was killed by the members of her own family. He claimed that her niece was murdered for not bringing dowry from her maternal home as expected by her family.
According to the Area Police Duhabi, the postmortem report is awaited to carry out further investigation into the case. The accused, however, have denied the charge against them.
