With 83 cases today, COVID-19 tally soars to 217 in Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 12: Nepal reported 26 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday evening. 


Joint spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, informed that six females (aged 22, 28, 28, 32, 45 and 60) and twelve males (aged 16, 22, 24, 25, 25, 28, 28, 32, 55, 59, 61 and 61)  from Parsa district, two male patients (aged 16 and 35) of Mahottari, and a 20-year male and 40-year-old female of Dhanusha tested positive for this deadly disease.

Similarly, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from Bhaktapur, another 33-year-old female from Kathmandu and a 45-year-old man from Sarlahi district diagnosed with this disease at the Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory.


Nepal reported a total of 83 cases on Tuesday itself, the highest number of confirmation of virus transmission in a single day. 


Earlier today,  the ministry confirmed 57 coronavirus cases.  


With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal has jumped to 217. Of them 33 have recovered, 3 readmitted while no casualty has been reported yet.
