KATHMANDU, July 3: Nepal recorded 740 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, taking the country's COVID-19 national tally to 15,259.
At a daily media briefing on COVID-19, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population said that 740 persons tested positive for coronavirus during tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.
Gautam shared that 823 persons who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 returned home after recovery in the past 24 hours.
This is the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, officials said. The spike in the number of COVID-19 cases is attributed to the increasing number of people entering Nepal from India after the government eased the nationwide lockdown.
