Wild elephants demolish seven houses

RAJBIRAJ, Feb 15: Wild elephants demolished more than half a dozen of houses in Bhardaha VDC of the Saptari on Friday morning, leaving an elderly injured.



As many as seven wild tuskers entered Bharadha VDC - 1 at around 3 am and demolished seven houses. According to the police, three houses of Haleshwar Paikar, two of Hiradevi Paikar and one house each of Halchal Mukhiya and Dhaneshwar Mukhiya were demolished by the elephants. [break]



Property worth Rs 500,000 was destroyed in the elephant attack.



Likewise, Parniya Devi Poukar, 60, was injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment at Bharadaha-based hospital.



Meanwhile, locals of the VDC obstructed vehicular movement at Bharadha along the east-west highway demanding compensation. They have also demanded that the local administration take measures to stop wild elephants from entering into the village time and again.
