Wild elephant found dead on Sukhiya river bank

JHAPA, June 27: An elephant has been found dead in Mechinagar Municipality-3. According to the District Police Office, the dead elephant was discovered on the bank of the Sukhiya River in ward 3 of Dhardhare Tole.

Local residents informed the District Police Office and Division Forest Office after seeing the dead elephant. A team of those agencies reached the spot after receiving the information.

Krishna Bahadur Chand, police spokesperson of Jhapa, said that a team of veterinary doctors from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve will arrive for an examination of the dead elephant.
