KATHMANDU, June 10: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhankri has said that small management centers should be identified as an alternative to large landfill sites for the waste management in Kathmandu Valley.
Speaking during a discussion with the locals of Banchare Danda at the Ministry of Urban Development on Friday, Minister Jhakri said that it would take time to build big landfill sites which does not seem possible in the present scenario. She said that small waste and sewage management centers should be established as an alternative.

Minister Jhakri assured that the government would move ahead only after fulfilling the demands of Banchare Danda and Sisdole residents. She said that she will not repeat the mistake in Banchare Dada the government made in Sisdole and the waste will be managed as per the agreement reached on March 10.
An 18-point agreement was reached between the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the locals of Banchare Danda last night to take the garbage of Kathmandu Valley only at night from now onward.
