Several settlement along the Narayani River bank inundated as a result of floods 

CHITWAN, Sept 28: The water level of the Narayani River has crossed the danger mark. The water measurement center at Devghat in Chitwan reported that the river has surpassed the danger level. Chitwan has been receiving heavy rainfall since Thursday.

A warning has been issued to locals to remain alert when the water level at Devghat exceeds 7.3 meters. The water level above 9 meters is considered dangerous. 

Currently, the water level of the Narayani River in the Devghat area has reached 10.75 meters. The center has reported that the water level is continuously rising.

The water level at the Narayani Bridge in Narayangadh has exceeded the alert level. The alert level here is 11 meters, but the water level has risen to 12.72 meters.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has noted that the water level of the Narayani River in the lower areas has also begun to reach dangerous levels. The DHM’s notice indicated that the water level is continuously rising. 

Similarly, the floodwaters from the Narayani River have entered the human settlements along the riverbank in Narayangadh and Gaindakot.

In the last 24 hours, rainfall measurements recorded in local rivers in Chitwan include 276.2 millimeters in the Trishuli River at Kalikhola, 291 millimeters in Kalyanpur, 231.8 millimeters in Shaktikhore, 247.4 millimeters around the Narayani Field Office, 238 millimeters in Jhuwani and 244.2 millimeters in Devghat.

The Narayani River has entered the riverbank settlements in Devchuli Municipality wards 2, 6, 7, and 9, as well as Bharatpur Metropolitan City wards 1 and 25.

The Narayani River has caused the most damage in Gaindakot. According to local resident Lekhram Sapkota from Gaindakot-7, after the floodwaters entered, locals have started moving their belongings and livestock to safer places.

Sapkota said that local representatives and police have arrived to assist people in moving to safer places. Around one hundred houses in the Gaindakot area have been inundated due to the flood. 

Similarly, the District Administration Office, Chitwan, reported that floodwaters have entered riverbank areas in Devghat, Narayangadh, and Sasuwaani in Bharatpur-25.

Likewise, one hundred people staying at Jay Bhole Kuti (Tharu Kuti) and Akhand Dharmshala in Devghat, located in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1, have been rescued and relocated to the Madwari Society building.
