They are helping in highlighting the issue to all the Kathmanduites who have witnessed our walkathon and I think that it is going to makes the lives of many children better.”

Dr. Sunita Malekho Amatya, chairperson of Autism Care Nepal shared, “People are aware of cancer, tuberculosis and anesthesia, but not autism.

This is because it’s not physically apparent like the rest. She adds, “It’s very important for us to raise our consciousness as it could happen to anybody even our family members and early intervention and diagnosis is a must for autistic patients.”

The event commemorated with two differently abled children performing a beautiful dance which bewitched everybody followed by the parents of children with autism sharing their experiences. “Autistic patients are not drab, they’re just different.

They need a very good psychological treatment from the family and the society should also embrace them with love so that they can improve,” explained Deepak Shakya, father of an autistic child.

The event wounded up with an informative speech about autism and another dance by the children.
