Vulnerable families shifted to safer locations in Jhapa

KHOTANG, July 15: Fifty one families highly vulnerable to landslides at Sawalung, Japla of Majhugadi municipality were shifted to safer locations.

KHOTANG, July 15: Fifty one families highly vulnerable to landslides at Sawalung, Japla of Majhugadi municipality were shifted to safer locations.


A landslide at Sawalung swept a shed including a pair of ox and cow of Bhim Bahadur Rai. “Rai has been shifted to safer location,” ward chairperson Bikas Rai said adding that Bhim’s house had been at risk with the onset of monsoon.

Rai had been staying at the local National Exclusive School. His cattle and shed worth of Rs.180, 000 has been damaged due to the landslide on Sunday morning informed Lok Darshan Thapa DSP, DPO Khotang.
