KATHMANDU, April 6: Nepal has been defeated by Vietnam in Asian Qualifiers Round 1 of Women's Olympic Football Tournament-2024. The Olympics is scheduled to be held in Paris, France in 2024.

In the match held at the Tripureshwor-based Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday, Vietnam defeated host Nepal by 5-1. Vietnam's Captain Huynh Nhu scored two goals while Pham Hai Yen, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy scored one goal each.

Similarly, Nepal's Sabitra Bhandari scored one goal.

Nepal, which is in Group 'C' of the Asian Qualifiers, would play its second match against Vietnam on Saturday.  Only Nepal and Vietnam are in Group 'C' after Palestine and Afghanistan withdrew their names. 

The winner of this group will qualify for round-2.
