KATHMANDU, July 6: Nepal has been pitted with Japan, Vietnam and Pakistan in Group D for the upcoming men’s football of the 2018 Asian Games to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Nepal will take on the three teams in the U-23 tournament, which has a provision of allowing the teams to have three overage players. It will start from August 14 and will conclude on September 1 with matches to be held in Jakarta and Palembang.
The Group A includes Indonesia, Hong Kong, Laos and China Taipei, while Thailand, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh and Qatar form the Group B.
Likewise, the Group C consists of bronze medal winner of the last edition Iraq, China, Timor Leste and Syria, while the Group E has gold medalist South Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia and Bahrain.
The silver medal winner North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Myanmar are in Group F.
Nepal finished at the bottom the final standings of the 2014 Asian Games losing all three group games, conceding 13 and failing to score a single goal.
