Know MoreKATHMANDU, August 21: Veteran Artist Shambhu Raj Thapa passed away this morning at Patan Hospital.
He had been admitted to the hospital three weeks ago after he tested positive for the COVID-19. “After his admission to the hospital, he was shifted to a ventilator as no improvement was seen in his health condition,” said Susma KC, Thapa’s sister-in-law. “He recently tested negative for COVID-19 but his internal organs including his lungs were severely damaged already.”
Thapa, who played roles in Nepali tele-serials like Meri Bassai, Bhadragol, Halka Ramailo and many other serials had been active in the field for the past three decades. He is popularly known as ‘Bakhate’, a role in an ongoing tele-serial, Halka Ramailo.
KC informed Republica that he will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat later today.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
