During his meeting with his Chinese Counterpart Li Yuanchao at State Guest House in Beijing on Friday night, Jha requested Li not to forget Nepal"s Tarai region while investing in Nepal. [break]
Reiterating Nepal"s commitment to One-China policy, Jha also said that Nepal"s southern plains have higher expectations from China for economic development.
According to Mahesh Maskey, Nepali ambassador to China, who accompanied Jha at the meeting, Jha urged China to invest in infrastructure development, tourism and agricultureal sectors besides other sectors.
“China will provide assistance to Nepal on the basis of the priorities set by Nepal,” Maskey quoted Li as saying at the meeting.
Jha started his visit to the norther neighbor on June 4. He participated in the inaugural ceremony of the First China- South Asia Expo being held in Kunming, Yunnan province of China on Thursday.
Stating that Nepal expects Chinese support in Nepali peace and constitution drafting processes, Jha also urged the Chinese leader to remain in constant touch with Nepali leaders.
In reply Li said the Chinese government wants to maintain equi-distance with all the political parties of Nepal. “China will not be guided by any ideology when it comes to extending friendship with neighboring countries and its leaders,” Maskey further quoted Li.
Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Ma Kai also paid a courtesy call on Jha in Kunming itself. Jha is scheduled to return home Sunday.
