VDC Secretary with millions in cash yet to show up

DOTI, Dec 18: A secretary in Doti remains unaccounted for after fleeing with millions of rupees allocated for two village development committees. 



VDC Secretary, Ishwor Bahadur Singh, stands accused of embezzling millions allocated as part of social security allowances for Pokhari and Jijaudamandau VDCs. He has been on the run since the Bada Dashain festival, said District Development Committee (DDC), Doti. 



Meanwhile, on December 14, Rs 3.7 million was deposited in the bank accounts of the two VDCs. 



Singh deposited Rs 1.3 million and Rs 1.2 million in Pokhari VDC and Jijaudamandau VDC accounts at the Rastriya Banijya Bank Branch Office, Silgadhi by using a name Deepak. 



Secretary Singh needs to cough up Rs 1.3 million of the total of Rs 3.8 million of the Pokhari VDC and Rs 1.7 million of the total of Rs 2.9 million of the Jijaudamandau VDC. Singh had fled with more than Rs 6.8 million. 



The Secretary is yet to come into contact. Doti's Local Development Officer (LDO), Krishna Gautam, said that even if Singh returns all the money he will still be subjected to legal action. RSS
