Valley receives 9mm rainfall

KATHMANDU, Feb. 16: The Weather Forecasting Division says Kathmandu Valley received nine millimeters of rainfall in the last 24 hours.



According to the Division, Dipayal and Dadeldhura have received the highest rainfall at 20 millimetres each whereas Okhaldhunga recorded only one millimeter of rainfall on Saturday.



It is considered normal weather if Kathmandu Valley receives 18 millimetres of rainfall during the three months (December-February), the winter season. It is the third rainfall in the Valley during this winter.



The maximum temperature of Kathmandu Valley has suddenly plunged to 18 degrees Celsius today against the 27 degrees Celsius in the last few days.



Senior meteorologist Rajendra Shrestha said the effects of the westerly winds would possibly remain until Sunday and the weather in Kathmandu Valley would be partly cloudy. There is possibility of intermittent rainfall here on Sunday. The weather would improve from Monday.



It snowed in different mountainous districts including Rasuwa, Jumla, Mugu and Taplejung today, he added.
