KATHMANDU, Feb 2: The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) has canceled its examination center in Nepal.

The USMLE in a notice on Wednesday said that an investigation was conducted to find out the reason behind most examinees participating in the center in Nepal passing the examination with good marks. It was later found that there were serious irregularities.
The USMLE program identified a pattern of abnormal examination performance related to Nepal.
The USMLE is the required examination for doctors planning to move from Nepal to the US. With the cancellation of USMLE's Center in Nepal, medical doctors, who want to go to the US, are set to face additional hardships.
For more than 30 years, the USMLE has been working to ensure that licensed physicians have the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to care for patients safely and effectively.
Administered by the American Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Board of Medical Examiners, the USMLE is considered a very difficult examination.
