US Embassy Kathmandu in collaboration with Nepal Hip Hop Foundation organizes Hip Hop Mela in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: The US Embassy in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Nepal Hip Hop Foundation, hosted the 'Hip Hop Mela: खुलौं बुलौं' at Annapurna Pavilion on Saturday.

The event featured performances by Hip Hop artists and musicians from both Nepal and the United States.

American artists Substantial, DJ Fleg, Shanna Lim, and Mazi Mutafa, alongside Nepali talents including Laure, Bad Kompany, Professor Trix, OMG SPARK, Vyoma, Kiran Nepali (Kutumba), and Amazumi, captivated the audience with their energetic performances.

The program encompassed a variety of artistic expressions, including dance, music, spoken word, and visual art exhibitions. Beyond entertainment, the event aimed to promote cross-cultural understanding and dialogue regarding the role of hip-hop as a medium for social change and activism.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop's birth, the US Embassy brought four American artists to Kathmandu as part of The Arts Envoy Hip Hop Program 2024. These artists collaborated with Nepali rappers, dancers, and producers, conducting workshops and discussions to share technical skills in spoken word, rap, production, and dance.
