Upadhyay's demise irreparable loss to party: NC President Deuba

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that National Assembly member and general convention representative of the Nepali Congress, Durga Prasad Upadhyay's death is an irreparable loss to the nation and party.

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that National Assembly member and general convention representative of the Nepali Congress, Durga Prasad Upadhyay's death is an irreparable loss to the nation and party.


Recalling Upadhyay as a leader willing to work with the people in the village, President Deuba said the demise of Upadhyay is the irreparable loss to the party.

At a mourning assembly organised by the NC Parliamentary Party here today, he mentioned that late Upadhyay had played active role in country's democratic movement and party organisation. Similarly, NC General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala said that he is saddened from the untimely death of Upadhyay, adding that Upadhyay would always be remembered for his contribution in political and social sector.


Likewise, NC Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav said that Upadhyay's political and social contribution would always be remembered. Leader of the main opposition party in the National Assembly, Surendra Raj Pandey, said that Upadhyay was always busy in development activities in the district.


Saying the party lost a capable leader, NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand recalled Upadhyay's contributions in party organisation. Suffering from cancer for long, NA member Upadhyay died in course of treatment on February 14.
