KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Elections for the selection of 18 office-bearers and politburo members of the CPN (Unified Socialist) are being held today.
The elections are being held today for 18 positions, including Senior Vice Chairman, Vice Chairman, Deputy General Secretary, Secretary, and Treasurer, as well as for the selection of 84 politburo members. The party has a 344-member Central Committee.

Currently, the process of filing candidacies is underway. After completing the programs such as claims and objections, withdrawal of candidacies, and publication of the final list, voting is scheduled to take place today from 2 PM to 5 PM.
The schedule released by Madhav Paudel, the chairman of the party’s Election Commission, states that the vote counting will be done by the evening.
Only the members of the Central Committee will be allowed to participate in the election process.
It has been announced that the Secretariat members, Standing Committee members, and other structures will be formed in a few days. Currently, the Central Committee has elected three office-bearers: the Chairman, the Senior Leader, and the General Secretary.
