Officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Feltman is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with political leaders, including Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. Likewise, he will also hold meetings with CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya and top leaders of various Madhesi parties.
While expressing happiness over the formation of interim election government, Under Secretary General Feltman also said that UN stands ready to support Nepal in its fresh election process. “We are delighted to see interim election council in place and we very much look forward reelection of Constituent Assembly,” he further said.
In his message last week on the formation of the interim government, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon had expressed hope that Feltman´s visit to Nepal would be an opportunity to express continued commitment of the UN to cooperate with Nepal in support of progress in the peace process.
