Nepal said the party has already instructed the party´s zonal and district committees to submit a report on the number of seats the party is likely to win in the upcoming election. [break]
“First, we will assess our own strength based on reports from across the country. We will only then decide whether to forge an alliance for election,” Nepal told media persons in Biratnagar.
He claimed that the party was becoming popular in recent days as a large number of people were joining the party. He said this trend indicates bight prospects for the party in the election.
He also said the UML would forge election alliance with the Nepali Congress and fringe parties if deemed necessary. He said alliance of any party with UCPN (Maoist) would not be reliable because Maoist leaders adept at using others for their vested interests.
Alliance of Madhesh-based parties
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar said the Madhesi leaders are for forging an alliance of the Madhes-based parties.
He said though they were holding talks with UCPN (Maoist) leaders on possibility of forging an electoral alliance, their first priority is to bring the divided Madhes-based parties under one umbrella for election.
“Our first priority is to unify the Madhes-based parties under an election alliance,” Gachchhadar told media persons in Biratnagar on Thursday. He also said that the major political parties are for holding polls in June.
