KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Focusing on the Tarai-Mades issue, CPN-UML , the main opposition party, is mobilizing its 1.5 m cadres for its forthcoming Mechi-Mahakali campaign.
In a press meet on Wednesday at Dhumbarahi-based UML’s Office, Secretary Pradip Gyawali said that in a-15-day long campaign cadres will reach out to the entire houses in the Tarai region.
“Since mid-November, we are conducting an extensive campaign across the nation to pressurize the government for the implementation of the constitution, Gyawali said, “Starting March 4, it will be an extensive campaign.” “The cadres will launch a door-to-door campaign to make the campaign more effective,” he said, adding, “There will be a huge participation in the campaign.”

In the event, as many as1.5 million people will be mobilized. All the party rank and file will be mobilized in the campaign.
“The party has already directed the committee members to gear up for the campaign,” he said. In 15 days’ campaign, as many as 33 mass meetings would be held. Chairman K P Sharma Oli, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-chairman Bam Dev Gautam will address the mass meetings.
The campaign will start on March 4 from Kakadbhitta, Jhapa, and end on March 18 in Surkhet.
Mass meetings will be held in Birtamod, Damak, Biratchowk, Itahari, Inaruwa, Rajbiraj, Kanchanpur, Golbazaar, Janakpur, Bardibas, Haripur, Garuda, Chandrapur, Jeetpur of Hetauda, Bhandara, Bharatpur, Kawasoti, Bhumahi, Bhairahawa, Butwal, Chandrauta, Lamahi, Ghorahi, Nepalgunj, Guleriya, Rajpur, Tikapur, Lamki, Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar and Surkhet.
Present in the rallies, meetings and promotional programs of the campaign, will be the standing committee members, central and provincial committee members, politburo members, former central members, senior leaders, lawmakers, former lawmakers and former ministers.
