KATHMANDU, Sept 22: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said his party will launch a campaign to dispel 'misleading allegations' against the party, which he said is accused of being opposed to the politics of identity.

Opening the party's central committee meeting Wednesday, Oli said that rumors are being spread to defame UML but the party will dispel such rumors through special campaigns.

"Some communalists are portraying UML of engaging in anti-identity politics, but the party will launch a special campaign to dispel such rumors right after the central committee meeting," said Oli.

Oli also said that UML is not against any neighboring country. "Misleading information is also being spread to portray UML as an anti-India party. UML is not against any country. UML is a party that wants stability and prosperity in Nepal. UML wants other countries to respect Nepal's sovereignty," said Oli.

Oli also expressed doubts that political crisis and void might resurface after January 21, 2018 if the constitution is not implemented in desired speed. He also claimed that the UML will play a crucial role to hold elections in time and to implement the constitution.

"Our government had prepared a roadmap for constitution implementation and working on it accordingly. However, the new government is ignoring the roadmap," said Oli.

"Our government was toppled as we tried to implement the constitution and tried to steer the country toward prosperity," argued Oli.

Former Prime Minister Oli and his party have been urging the government to work for implementing the constitution rather than engaging in constitution amendment. While the ruling coalition of Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) has agreed with Madhes-based parties to amend the constitution, the UML has been urging the government to justify the need to amend the constitution.

The central committee is said to discuss on political document presented by Oli and a separate political document presented by party secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.
