KATHMANDU, March 17: Main opposition CPN-UML has said that the party will soon launch a special program for Province 2 though the party's Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign has been postponed in the province because of the sensitive situation.

Issuing a press release on Friday to conclude the campaign, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli urged the agitating Madhes based parties and their alliance, the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), to show democratic nature in politics. Oli alleged the UDMF of practicing social fascism and involving on violent activity and urged to respect opposition in democratic way.

Expressing sorrow on the loss of human life in Saptari incident, Oli argued the UDMF to be responsible and to respect people's mandate. He has also alleged Madhes-base parties that their recent activities do not demark crime and politics. He has also expressed serious concern claiming that the UDMF has been a cover for separatist elements and those elements, who believe in violence.

The UML had postponed its Mechi-Mahakali Campaign in Province 2 after the Maleth incident, where three people lost their lives in police firing that took place to avoid clash between the UDMF and the UML cadres during the campaign.

Reiterating party's stance that the constitution amendment bill is unnecessary, unconstitutional and against the national interest, Oli said that it could not be endorsed on any sense.

Oli urged the government and the ruling parties to stop arguing that no election could take place without endorsing the amendment. He said that the argument itself is meaningless but harmful and urged the government to withdraw the bill considering the people's mandate, votes against it in the parliament and the related verdict from the Supreme Court.

Oli has alleged that communal issues related to race and region started to surface again in the country after the formation of present government despite they were gradually settling earlier.

The Mechi-Mahakali campaign is concluding on Friday as it has reached to Mahendranagar starting from Kakarvitta.
