ILAM, May 5: The CPN-UML, Ilam Chapter has started cracking down on party leaders and cadres who have fielded candidacies in the local elections against the party's decision. UML has started expelling the rebel candidates from the party and relieving them of their previous responsibilities.
UML has removed Yogendra Acharya, a member of the party's Ilam Municipal Secretariat, from his post and expelled him from the party. UML has stated that Acharya was expelled from the party as he had given his candidature for the post of ward chairman of ward 8 against the party's decision.
According to UML Ilam Deputy Secretary Rabindra Subedi, Kumar Rai, a candidate for the post of ward member of Ilam Municipality-8, Mekh Bahadur Bista, a candidate for the same ward and Ritunath Bastola of the same ward have been sacked from the party. "The party is and will continue to take action against those who act against party discipline," said Subedi.
Earlier, UML had removed party chairman Sher Bahadur Khadka of Ilam Municipality-9 from the party.
