Eight months on, TU shows no sign of publishing results
The main opposition party, CPN-UML, is organizing its 10th General Convention from November 26-28 in Chitwan.
Leader Gyawali claimed that the Statute General Convention has made the party united at the policy level. "Unity in policy is the party unity. We are already united in the policy. So, the General Convention is also going to be focused on unity."
Stating that the party will have a lasting influence on the country's democracy and its future, all have shown keen interest in the party's policy, he said, "But we have already made public our principles, jurisdiction, and policy through the Statute Convention that we held two months ago. We have passed the documents regarding the present priorities. Therefore, the forthcoming General Convention will be one of unity and new resolve."
“All the party colleagues' of such a big party could not be included among the 15 office-bearers and 225 central members. So, we will elect the leadership on the basis of consensus as far as possible. If it is not possible this way, then the leadership will be elected through healthy competition. There is not going to be any amendment to the party's Statute for now,” Gyawali added.
