DHARAN, Sept 30: The employees of Dhankuta's Pakhribas Municipality have halted their work after the outgoing UML lawmaker Rajendra Rai threatened to kill Prakash Raj Poudel, the chief administrative officer (CAO) of the municipality.
All the employees of the municipality have blocked the service, demanding an investigation into the matter and legal action against the guilty. CAO Paudel said that yesterday (Thursday) at around 5PM, former lawmaker Rai threatened to kill him over the phone.
Paudel issued a statement on Friday about the incident and said that MP Rai was insulting him with indecent, rude and anarchist behavior and threatened to kill him. Paudel has also demanded the protection of his life through the statement.
Mayor Gyan Bahadur Gurung said that all services provided by the municipality have been disrupted since all the employees have abandoned work, demanding an investigation into the matter and legal action against the guilty.

Mayor Gurung told republica over the phone, "All the employees have left the work. However, it is between the staff and the honorable MP. We are confused as to what the employee did and why he abused him.” Mayor Gurung also said that the truth cannot be known unless both parties sit at the same table and discuss the matter.
In the statement issued by administrative officer Paudel and his staff, it is mentioned that MP Rai threatened to kill him and Balram Khadka of Ward No 4 made false accusations by posting Paudel's photo on social media at night.
CAO Paudel and the employees demanded an investigation into the matter and legal action against the guilty according to the prevailing cyber crime laws. They also said that the employees of the municipality cannot work freely due to fear, terror, threats and insults and humiliation through false accusations.
