KATHMANDU, April 29: Robert Dominic Russell Fenn, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Nepal, had a courtesy visit with Vice President Ram Prasad Sahay on Monday at the Vice President's Office in Lainchaur.
They exchanged best wishes and held important discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, according to the Vice President's Secretariat.
Vice President Yadav highlighted the centuries-old close ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom and recalled the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1816. He also noted that Nepal and the UK celebrated the centenary of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship with grand events in 2023.

Thanking Britain for its support during times of disaster, Vice President Yadav described the United Kingdom as a major development partner. "Our political, economic, and cultural relations, along with people-to-people ties, are unique and have grown even stronger in recent times," he said. "I appreciate the contribution of the British Gurkhas in strengthening our bilateral relations."
He urged the timely conclusion of diplomatic discussions to address the genuine grievances of former British Gurkhas. Referring to the 'Sagarmatha Dialogue' initiated by Nepal to address climate change and global issues, Vice President Yadav said, "We expect high-level participation from the United Kingdom in the first edition of this dialogue, which will be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18 under the theme 'Climate Change, the Himalayas, and the Future of Humanity.'"
He also requested Ambassador Fenn to convey his personal best wishes for good health and happiness to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Ambassador Fenn described Nepal and the United Kingdom as close friends who work together and reaffirmed the UK's commitment to supporting Nepal's upcoming 'Sagarmatha Dialogue.'
"We are in continuous dialogue with the Nepali Embassy in London on industrial and economic issues," he said. "We are also actively discussing the service and welfare concerns of the British Gurkhas with the embassy to find solutions."
