KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Taskforces of major three political parties and agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Thursday held discussions over ending the row over demarcation of provinces by forming a political mechanism.

The leaders held meeting at Singha Durbar and discussed the mechanism to address grievances over demarcation within three months.

The taskforce of major three parties proposed the Madhesi leaders on redrawing provinces through the mechanism.

The front didn’t buy the idea, instead sought jurisdiction of such mechanism and surety in ending the debate, taskforce member Mahesh Acharya said.

“We held point-wise discussions over 11-point demands for the first time,” he told reporters emerging from the meeting, “The front sought jurisdiction of the mechanism.”

According to him, the next meet will be held today itself.

Front leader Hridayesh Tripathi said they are positive on settling demarcation through the political mechanism.
