KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Top leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Wednesday expressed their dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai over lack of progress in the four-point agreement reached between UCPN (Maoist) and the Madhesi alliance.

Devendra Paudel, political advisor to the prime minister, said that the Madhesi leaders expressed dissatisfaction regarding recruitment of Madhesis in the Nepal Army. “The Madhesi leaders expressed concerns over the voices against the recruitment of Madhesis in the NA,” Paudel told Republica. Earlier, CPN-UML had turned down the proposal of the ruling parties stating such a move would also encourage other communities to demand separate units in the NA.

In response the prime minister said that the government would move ahead following due procedures.

During the meeting, the Madhesi leaders urged the prime minister to address their concerns in the budget before it gets endorsed.

“We put forward our views regarding implementation of the four-point deal. We also discussed the bill on inclusion,” Rajendra Mahato, chairman of Sadbhawana Party, told Republica. He said that prime minister was very positive and expressed his commitment to implement the four-point deal.
