UDAYAPUR, Feb 18: Construction of province-level bus terminal at Gaighat of Udayapur is going on in a war footing.
According to Provincial Urban Development and Building Construction, Saptari, the plan is to upgrade existing bus park located on the banks of Triyuga River into a bus terminal having services and facilities of international standard. The construction work is expected to be completed within the current fiscal year.
Ramesh Theeng, chief of the office, told Republica that the main building will have three stories. "We have completed foundation works for the 30-room main building and preparing for concrete works of the first floor in just three months since the construction works began," he added.
Terminal building construction to begin at three airports
Raman/ISMD JV is the contractor of the project. Pramod Yadav, project manager of Raman/ISMD JV, said they intend to complete and hand over the bus terminal to the concerned agency within a year. "We have been given deadline of December, 2021, to complete the project. But we are working hard to complete and deliver the project five-six months before the deadline," he added.
"As we bagged the tender quoting 34% less than the estimated amount, we want to complete it at the earliest possible to avoid losses," Yadav added.
The estimated cost of the project was Rs 192 million. But the JV bagged the project quoting Rs 124 million excluding VAT.
Theeng also said the construction company is working on a war footing. "Physical progress of this project is higher than any other project being implemented by Provincial Urban Development and Building Construction," he added.
The main building will consist of administrative room, ticket counter, control room and security post. The office also plans to build a 14-meter clock tower.
According to Theeng, the bus terminal will have a spacious waiting area with garden. There will also be motor vehicle service center, washrooms, restaurant as well as shopping center on the terminal premises.
