Two teenagers arrested for killing two minors in greed of gold

DANG, April 9: Two minor girls are found to have been killed in greed for gold. According to the District Police Office, East Rukum, two teenagers killed the two minor girls to rob them of their gold jewelry.

District Police Office chief DSP Ranjita Shrestha said that 7-year-old Kanchan Budha and her 8-year-old sister Rima Budha of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality Ward No. 3 of East Rukum were killed. "It has been seen that two teenage girls killed these girls out of their greed for gold," DSP Shrestha said.

“On April 5, Kanchan and Rima went to pick up fiddlehead near the house. Two young women were working nearby. As Kanchan and Rima wore gold jewelry, those girls became greedy for gold. They tried to steal the gold ornaments worn by Kanchan and Rima. According to the family, the gold ornaments are worth one tola," said DSP Shrestha.

It has been found that the two teenagers knew the girls and they killed them because they were afraid of getting caught. DSP Shrestha said, "They robbed the gold jewelry and strangled them to death."

They threw the bodies of the two murdered girls from the cliff. According to Sudan Thapa, a journalist who was present at the scene of the incident, their bodies were thrown from a cliff, about one kilometers away from the place where they were killed. "After the murder, they threw the dead bodies away from the cliff so that no one would see them, one kilometer away from the incident site," said journalist Thapa.

After the two girls did not return home that day, the family searched the neighborhood. But they were not found that day. The next morning on April 6 during the search, two girls were found dead. According to the police, the police have arrested the two teenagers who were said to be involved in the murder. DSP Shrestha said that further investigation is being done after extending the remand. "During the preliminary investigation so far, it seems that they killed for the greed of gold," Shrestha said.
