BHAKTAPUR, July 24: Two teenage sisters from Surkhet, who were living in a rented room in Sintiatar, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-9, were found dead on Wednesday morning.
According to police, 17-year-old Menuka Kandel and her 15-year-old sister Srijana Kandel, originally from Panchapuri Municipality-8 of Surkhet, were found hanging with the same rope in the passage of the house where they had been renting a room on the ground floor.
Couple found dead in rented room
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaraj Dhungana, chief at Police Circle Office,Thimi, confirmed that the two were sisters.
According to the house owner, the girls had moved into the rented room just two weeks ago. Police said the sisters had reportedly run away from home before coming to stay there.
DSP Dhungana stated that a detailed investigation will be carried out once their family members arrive as they have not yet been contacted.
Police said further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
